Press Box Stand, Edgbaston: view, shade and what to expect

Choose the Press Box Stand for a northern-end cricket view towards the South Stand. Its two public seating tiers offer different heights without changing that basic perspective. The Edgbaston Market behind the stand makes it easy to combine a session of cricket with a food break.

The view

The Press Box Stand sits between RES Wyatt and Stanley Barnes on the northern arc. You look towards the opposite end of the wicket, with the South Stand behind the play. This angle is rewarding if you like following the bowling line and seeing how the field is set for each batter. Compare the lower and upper tiers for the height you enjoy.

Lower and upper seating

Lower rows bring you closer to the boundary and the players stationed there. Upstairs, the wider perspective helps you take in the field and the ground’s setting together. Read the seat’s booking description for any restriction from a railing, access aisle or other obstruction. The best row is the one that keeps the wicket and the parts of the ground you care about in view.

The public seating is uncovered. Morning light gives a mix of sun and shade; afternoon sun reaches this northern side. Bring sunscreen and a hat for clear weather and a waterproof for a change in conditions. Plan your cover around the seat itself, rather than the nearby buildings on the concourse.

Access

AccessAble’s survey uses the older Scrivens Stand name. It records stepped routes into ordinary lower and upper seating, with handrails, and no designated wheelchair viewing in those public tiers. For a wheelchair position or a route without steps, speak to Edgbaston before choosing a stand. The club can discuss alternatives, companion tickets and the facilities you need for the whole day.

Restricted-view tickets can hide part of the outfield; the club says the active pitch remains visible. Heavily restricted seats can also hide part of the pitch. Read the seat category before booking.

Food, drink and toilets

The Edgbaston Market is behind the Press Box Stand, with food, drinks and match-day activities described in the club’s ground guide. There are also outlets around the concourse, so you can explore at the interval without having to cross the ground for refreshments. Identify your tier’s return entrance before joining a queue.

The AccessAble survey records a food-and-drink outlet serving the stand. Use the stadium access guide for adapted toilets and ask the club about the nearest suitable route from your seat. If you need a sensory room, arrange that separately with the access team before travelling. Food and non-alcoholic drinks brought from home remain subject to the ground regulations; glass bottles are prohibited.

Who it suits

This stand is a good choice for visitors who enjoy an end-on view and want food options close at hand. A higher seat suits reading the whole field; the lower tier gives a closer connection with boundary cricket. The Market adds a useful break between sessions for a group with different appetites.

Choose the tier first, then compare rows within it. Take a hat and keep a light waterproof in your bag for the exposed seating.
