Western Terrace, Headingley: view, shade and what to expect

The Western Terrace is Headingley’s lively side-on choice. Blocks A and B form the 18+ Fanzone, where fancy dress is welcome; the Popular and 1863 Enclosures keep the terrace setting without fancy dress. For a family day with alcohol-free seating, start with Block R in the North East Stand.

The view

From the west side you watch across the wicket towards the East Stand, with the two bowling ends to either side. This is a good angle for following field positions and boundary action. Choose a row a little higher if an overview matters most; choose nearer the front if you enjoy watching the fielders at close quarters.

Fanzone: Blocks A and B

This is the place for an adult group that wants the crowd to be part of the day. Yorkshire welcomes fancy dress here, and its international ticket category is labelled 18+. Masks and offensive or dangerous outfits and accessories are prohibited. Costumes must not block another spectator’s view. Keep gangways clear and stay seated while play is in progress.

Popular and 1863 Enclosures

These are separate Western Terrace zones. Yorkshire permits groups here but does not permit fancy dress. They suit friends who want the terrace’s view and atmosphere with a less boisterous setting. Choose the named zone in the ticket menu before comparing rows; a Fanzone ticket and an enclosure ticket are different choices.

There is no roof over the seating. Morning sunshine reaches the terrace, with a mix of sun and shade later as the sun moves behind this side. Bring layers and sun protection. AccessAble records ramped approaches and a designated front-row area in Block A; the remaining ordinary rows involve steps. Arrange a named accessible seat through the club.

Food, drink and toilets

Take refreshments on the concourse behind the terrace and make a note of your return entrance. The club’s fixture guide lists that day’s concessions; the range changes between a county afternoon and a major international. Standard and adapted toilets are behind the seating, with RADAR-key access to the surveyed adapted facility. Ask a steward for the key and route.

Alcohol cannot be brought to international, Blast or Hundred matches. At Championship initial entry, the dated regulations allow four 440ml beer or lager containers or one 70cl wine container; glass is banned. Under-18s cannot buy or consume alcohol, and Challenge 25 applies. Report abuse to a steward or text RESPECT to 60650.

Who it suits

Adult friends who enjoy singing, costumes and a busy cricket crowd will love the Fanzone. Groups who want the same side-on setting with a calmer emphasis can choose Popular or 1863. The terrace makes the spectators part of the occasion as well as giving you a clear sense of the field.

Agree the enclosure with everyone before booking. That is the most useful choice here; the exact row comes second.

Tickets for this stand

Choose Fanzone, Popular or 1863 in Yorkshire’s official ticket menu, then check the selected block. For families, compare Block R before committing to a terrace group booking. Major-match seating is reserved; on domestic general-admission days, use the areas opened for that fixture.
