The Oval: accessibility guide

The Oval offers designated wheelchair viewing, accessible toilets and support for visitors with sensory or non-visible disabilities. Make the seating and journey work together: tell Surrey what you need before choosing a ticket. The access team is at accessibility@surreycricket.com or 020 3946 0100.

Start with Surrey’s official accessibility information and 2026 Access Guide, then use AccessAble’s Oval surveys for photographs and route details. A pre-match visit can help you get familiar with the ground; arrange it with Surrey.

Booking accessible tickets

Contact Supporter Services with the fixture, your seating needs and whether you are coming with a companion. Surrey’s access guide says a supporter who needs a carer or companion buys the appropriate age-category ticket and receives a complimentary companion ticket, with adjacent seating arranged wherever possible. Ask which evidence, if any, they need for your booking.

Explain whether you use a wheelchair throughout the day, can transfer to a seat, need to avoid steps or need an aisle position. Include your party size so the team can consider the whole visit. The ticket office has low counters and hearing loops. Agree the seat before buying travel, and keep the confirmation with your tickets.

Getting to the ground

Use Vauxhall for a step-free arrival. National Rail confirms step-free access to all rail platforms; the Victoria line also has lift access. Surrey’s access guide allows about eight minutes for the 600-metre route to the ground. Check TfL’s step-free journey planner and National Rail’s station information for your actual journey.

Oval has no lifts. Kennington has lifts to the ticket-hall level but platform access still involves stairs: TfL’s step-free guide describes step-free interchange there, rather than a step-free exit to the street. Choose Vauxhall when you need a complete step-free route.

Book Blue Badge parking through Surrey, subject to availability; major-match parking is off-site and you receive a parking letter. Accessible drop-off and collection use Kennington Oval between Vauxhall Street and Clayton Street. From Vauxhall, Alec Stewart Gate offers priority entry; John Edrich Gate serves the Pavilion End. Give your driver the agreed route because nearby roads close for major games.

Inside the ground

Surrey lists pitchside wheelchair seating in blocks 1, 2, 12, 13, 20 and 21, plus lift-served viewing on the JM Finn balcony. Laker Balcony has an accessible viewing area for members. Ask for the route to your allocated area, including its toilet and refreshments; a lift into a stand does not make every tiered seat step-free.

Changing Places toilets are on the first floor of JM Finn and beside the Club Shop on the SSE Energy Solutions concourse. Accessible toilets use RADAR keys; bring yours or ask staff for help. Hearing loops are available in selected seating and service areas. Tell the team about your hearing needs when selecting a seat.

Book the children’s sensory room before the match, or ask Pavilion Reception on arrival. It is unsupervised and spaces are limited. Blast and Hundred games can include loud music and pyrotechnics, so mention sensory needs early. The multi-faith prayer room is at ground level in Bedser, via entrance 32.

Assistance dogs and support

Surrey’s access information welcomes assistance dogs, including hearing dogs. Contact the access team before visiting so they can arrange suitable seating and space. You can also request an optional non-visible disability wristband in advance or collect it from Pavilion Reception.

Ask a steward or a purple-bibbed Wayfinder for directions on major match days. They can help you reach facilities and find the right contact. If you need ongoing personal care or supervision, attend with your companion; the venue team does not provide continuous individual support.
