Trueman Enclosure, Headingley: view, shade and what to expect

The Trueman Enclosure is the northern, behind-the-bowler’s-arm choice at Headingley. Named after Fred Trueman, it combines covered and uncovered seats with a close view down the pitch. Start here if watching the bowling line matters more than joining the Western Terrace crowd.

The view

The wicket runs away from you towards the Howard Stand at the Football Ground End. From this angle you can follow the bowler’s approach, the batter’s response and the keeper’s position in one line. Bowling from the northern end and bowling towards it give you two different perspectives within the same match.

Choosing your row

A row further back gives a broader view across the field; a lower seat puts you closer to the boundary and the players stationed there. Compare the wicket with your actual block on the booking map. If a rail or another obstruction matters to you, ask the Ticket Office about the selected row before paying.

Covered and uncovered seats

Yorkshire sells the two areas as separate international categories, and AccessAble describes the enclosure as partially sheltered. Choose the covered category if the roof is important to your day, then check the precise row. Morning brings a mix of light and shade; afternoon sun faces this northern end, so roof cover and protection from low sunshine are separate considerations.

The commissioned survey identifies a ramped approach bypassing entrance steps, with a step-free designated viewing area at the front. Ordinary tiered seating has steps. Companions sit beside the surveyed wheelchair position, and its view is recorded as clear of obstructions. Give the accessible-ticket team your group size and seating needs before choosing an ordinary row.

Food, drink and toilets

The enclosure has no dedicated outlet within the surveyed seating area. Use the surrounding concourse concessions listed in the match guide, and allow time to return between overs. A small picnic is a useful choice for a long county session; pack it inside the permitted bag, up to 45 × 30 × 30cm and small enough to fit under a seat.

The adapted toilet identified by AccessAble is behind the neighbouring North East Stand, within about fifty metres of the designated viewing area. Ask a steward for its RADAR key and the suitable route. Water-refill arrangements and food outlets are covered in the club’s match-day information; glass must stay outside the ground.

Who it suits

Trueman suits the cricket watcher who enjoys studying a spell, comparing bowlers and following changes of length. It is also a strong choice for friends who want the conversation to stay centred on the action, with the northern end giving everyone the same bowling-line perspective.

Choose cover before row height. For several hours of cricket, that small booking decision can shape the whole day more than being a few seats closer to the boundary.

Tickets for this stand

Select Trueman covered or uncovered seats when the international booking offers both categories. Domestic admission and the enclosures opened for the day are described in the fixture guide. Keep a second row choice ready when buying a group, and arrange wheelchair viewing directly with the Ticket Office.

Official 2027 prices and sales windows. Last checked: October 2026.

The club’s published priority starting prices were £50 for Pakistan, £45 for New Zealand and £20 per day for the women’s Test. That window ended on 1 October 2026; ballot and general-sale prices increase. General sale opens at 10:00 on 14 October 2026. Have your account ready, choose a second block and book seats together while your preferred group is available.

For an international group, use your eligible booking window rather than leaving the choice until match week. Check the official seat map for available blocks and use official resale for returns when the match sells out.
