Lightning Stand C, Old Trafford: view, shade and what to expect

Lightning Stand C combines two tiers near the home dressing room and next to Party Stand D. It is a good place to enjoy a lively Lancashire crowd while choosing between a closer boundary view downstairs and a wider perspective upstairs.

The view

Lower tier

The lower seats sit on the southwestern curve beside the Media Centre. You can watch the approach to the wicket with some width in the view, following both the bowling and the fielders nearer your boundary. Compare individual blocks rather than assuming the whole curve has the same angle. Front rows are exposed; the rear has shelter beneath the upper tier.

Upper tier

The upper level opens up the field and gives a different reading of the captain’s changes. The club describes it as a strong viewing choice but warns that it is unsuitable for spectators who struggle with mobility. It is stepped seating and open to the weather. Check the exact row and any restriction attached to the seat before booking.

Stand C catches morning sunshine, with a mixture of sun and shade after lunch. Rear lower rows and open upper rows make different choices for a long day. Bring sun protection whichever level you choose, and compare the far boundary as well as the wicket in the club’s seat viewer. A rail or overhang query is worth settling against the actual row.

The designated lower wheelchair viewing area has level step-free access in AccessAble’s overview. Ordinary rows still have steps, and the upper tier requires stairs. The club directs accessible visitors through the route between C and D. Book the designated position and companion seat with the Ticket Team, explaining the facilities you need during the visit.

Food, drink and toilets

The stand has public concourse refreshment and toilet facilities, with adapted toilets recorded behind C. Work out your route back to the correct lower or upper entrance before heading for food. The nearby Party Stand can add to the busy interval crowd, so agree where your group will meet and leave time to return comfortably.

Take food for the day within your single permitted bag, which must fit under the seat and measure no more than 45 × 30 × 30cm. Bought-in alcohol, unsealed drinks, glass or metal bottles and cans are prohibited. For Changing Places or sensory support, arrange the appropriate facility through the access team before travelling.

Who it suits

Lightning Stand C is a good match for supporters who enjoy a lively home-ground feeling and want a choice of height. The lower tier keeps boundary cricket close; upstairs helps you see the wider field and appreciate how the match develops.

For your first visit, compare a lower and upper seat before booking. Pick the perspective you enjoy, then pack for its exposure so you can settle in for the whole match.
