The view

Blocks A and B

The two labels on the club map describe one stand, not two separate buildings. Moving along the boundary changes how squarely you look at the wicket. Lower rows bring boundary fielders closer, while higher rows help you follow the field as a whole.

The side-on angle

Mike Procter is a good place to concentrate on the batter’s movement and field changes across the square. Compare it with the corner angles in Club or Jack Russell if that is the view you enjoy. For a quieter county fixture, check which stands are open before travelling; a larger international seating plan does not establish that every block opens every day.

Steps and sunshine

AccessAble’s survey records steps to the ordinary rows, with no standard level-access seating in the stand. Arrange designated accessible viewing elsewhere with Gloucestershire if needed. The seats are uncovered, get morning sun and a mix of sun and shade after lunch. Keep a hat, sun cream and waterproof within reach for the long sessions.

Bring an empty reusable bottle for the water points. For the Mike Procter Stand at Bristol, bags must fit under the seat, and the ground’s catering and retail are cashless. Read the ground regulations.

Who it suits

Mike Procter suits side-on cricket watchers who like following field settings and comparing the A and B angles along the boundary. Morning sunshine makes it a pleasant outdoor choice. Practical tip: decide which block gives your preferred view, then compare the row rather than choosing the stand by name alone.
