Frank Woolley Stand, Canterbury: view, shade and what to expect
Frank Woolley Stand follows the western side of Canterbury’s St Lawrence Ground, between Chiesman Pavilion and the Colin Cowdrey side. Its covered lower tier includes public viewing and designated wheelchair places; the upper tier has premium and eligible member routes.

The view
Lower tier
The lower tier is the clear starting point for public covered viewing. Kent identifies shaded lower seating for county visitors and covered wheelchair positions through its access service. Ask for the exact designated place if you need wheelchair viewing rather than buying an ordinary lower row.
Upper tier
The upper tier gives a higher view across the ground, with membership and premium-ticket routes. Kent’s current access guide says it is not step-free. Its 2027 junior and youth season-ticket information includes Upper Woolley; other ticket categories have their own entitlements.
Roof and light
Woolley’s covered western seats catch morning light and put much of the afternoon sun behind the stand. The front row still gives less shelter from low sunlight than a place farther under the roof. For a full Championship day, compare the tier, block and roof position together rather than choosing solely from the stand name.
The side-on choice
A higher place helps with the field beyond the nearest boundary; a lower position brings the close fielder into view. Chiesman gives a more Pavilion End perspective. Row-by-row pillar and railing restrictions are TBC, so ask Kent about the actual seat offered on the booking map.
Neighbouring seating
Chiesman Pavilion is the neighbouring guide towards the north-west. Colin Cowdrey’s ordinary seating is a member area; its Cornwallis and Harris suites are separately booked hospitality. Open boundary and Southern Bank seating follow the actual fixture layout and are not extra permanent stand buildings.

Food, drink and toilets
Kent is cashless throughout match-day retail, ticketing and food outlets. The shop is on Colin Cowdrey’s ground floor, and the Spitfire Bar is in Les Ames; check the map before an interval walk. Ask a steward for the nearest suitable toilet to your lower or upper seat. Changing Places is also in Les Ames, away from the ordinary Woolley rows.
Outside food and container permissions are TBC in the current regulations. Check the Canterbury packing section before bringing a glass bottle or bulky picnic. Return between overs and keep the route to designated wheelchair places clear.
Who it suits
Frank Woolley suits public county spectators who want cover with a view across the square, and visitors comparing a higher premium place with lower admission. Its designated covered wheelchair viewing is a useful first enquiry for an accessible visit. Practical tip: name the tier and any companion place before selecting seats for the group.
Tickets
Use the official match ticket account and choose Canterbury, the date and tier together. Kent sells public premium upper tickets for specified matches and includes eligible upper access in membership or pass products; lower public admission is a different route. Individual 2027 Woolley tariffs and sell-out timing are TBC. Prices depend on the seat category shown when you book.
Read Kent’s annual-package benefits if comparing several visits, including the junior and youth categories. Arrange accessible lower and companion places through Kent before booking.
