The 1st Central County Ground: accessibility
Plan your visit to the County Ground, Hove with Sussex’s disability and carer ticket service. The 1st Central County Ground has Pavilion ramp and lift access, designated wheelchair viewing and Changing Places. Call 01273 827100 to arrange your viewing place and any carer ticket for the actual fixture.
Booking accessible tickets
Sussex says each disabled guest is entitled to a free carer ticket. Arrange it through the ticket office rather than buying two standard places independently. Explain the match, your equipment, any transfer needs and the support required, then ask what evidence and seating arrangements apply. A carer ticket and a premium-room guest pass have different purposes.
For ordinary public wheelchair viewing, the club identifies space beside the northern sightscreen and, at some matches, an area north of the main scoreboard. Ask where you will be allocated for your fixture and how your companion sits nearby. For Pavilion or hospitality bookings, give the team the room and outdoor viewing position as well as the event.
Getting to the ground
Hove station is the nearest railway approach, with the club’s ten-minute walk via Goldstone Villas and Eaton Road. National Rail lists step-free access and assistance information; check live lift notices before travelling. Decide whether the final distance and crossings work for your group before relying on the station route.
Brighton is another rail arrival, with an onward train or bus option towards Hove. Brighton & Hove Buses identifies number 7 from Brighton and number 21 from Hove station for the ground. Check the actual boarding stop, vehicle access and the final walk from your chosen stop on the travel date.
The current club facilities page says there is no public match-day parking, including accessible parking. Contact Sussex about your drop-off and entrance needs. check rather than assume a Blue Badge reserves a ground space. If using Norton Road or another public car park, ask about the route and distance to the gate, and check the operator’s accessibility information.
Inside the ground
Spen Cama Pavilion has rear ramp access beside the indoor school. A lift from the rear entrance serves the Long Room and Dining Room. Confirm the precise room and seating route: general ground admission does not include members’ or premium rooms. Cow Corner has a ramped entrance beside the South Stand and Media Centre.
Changing Places was installed ahead of the 2024 season. Ask reception or a steward for access and discuss any equipment requirements before the match. The ground map also identifies accessible toilets around the venue; staff can direct you to the nearest suitable facility from your allocated place. Do not leave an essential facility enquiry until the interval.
Registered blind or partially sighted customers can collect complimentary earpieces for BBC Sussex commentary from the club shop. Ask the ticket team about availability and collection when arranging your seat. Tell staff about evacuation or other support needs in advance, so they can help plan the visit as a whole.
Assistance dogs and support
The Sensory, Inclusion and Quiet Room is offered at selected home matches through an advance request. Confirm your actual fixture and any booking requirements before travelling. A hidden-disability wristband can be requested through the club; explain any additional help that would make arrival and the seated part of the day easier.
Assistance dogs have separate admission exceptions under the regulations. Tell Sussex about the dog and the space required when booking. Pet dogs are limited to eligible Championship and non-floodlit fifty-over domestic matches and cannot enter the playing area or food-and-drink premises. Ask a steward for help or directions whenever needed.
