Compton Stand, Lord’s: view, shade and what to expect
Choose Compton for an elevated look down the bowling line towards the Pavilion. Its three tiers give you different ways to watch the same contest: close to the boundary below, or a wider view of the field above.
At a glance: Compton Stand
The view
Compton occupies the northern side of the Nursery End, beside Edrich and the Media Centre. This is an end-on position with an angle on the wicket; compare individual seats if a straight view along the pitch is your priority. Looking towards the Pavilion gives the day a lovely sense of place, especially as the players take the field.
For a broad view of field settings, start your seat search with the balcony or upper tier. If being close to the boundary matters more, compare lower-tier rows. These are choices about perspective: use MCC’s seat viewer to judge the actual sightline before choosing a seat, particularly at the edges of a block or behind a railing.
The current stand has three roofed tiers and exposed pitchside seating. Older MCC row-by-row cover advice describes the previous Compton structure, so use the current viewer for a covered row. Compton is in shade under cover in the morning and catches the sun after lunch; a roof above you does not keep low afternoon sunlight off every seat.
AccessAble surveys the lower tier, balcony and upper tier separately. In the lower tier, it records clear views from pitchside and rear wheelchair areas, reached by a slope and a level route respectively. Lifts connect the levels, but ordinary seats can involve steps; the upper survey has no wheelchair spaces. Ask MCC for a wheelchair position on an appropriate level or a suitable ambulant seat.

Food, drink and toilets
AccessAble records food and drink provision in Compton’s seating areas, with standard and adapted toilets in its tier guides. The balcony survey also covers the Old Clock Tower Bar and Compton Suite; access to a hospitality space depends on your ticket, so check the package before making lunch plans around it.
Find your nearest toilet and return entrance when you arrive, before the interval brings everyone into the concourse. If you need an adapted toilet, use the relevant tier survey to check the transfer side and route with MCC. Carry a refillable bottle and plan a food break around the cricket rather than leaving every errand for lunch.
Check the survey for your level: Compton Stand lower tier, Compton Stand upper tier, Compton Stand balcony, Compton Suite and Old Clock Tower Bar.
Who it suits
You’ll love Compton if following a bowler’s approach is your favourite part of cricket. The Nursery End perspective puts the bowling line at the heart of the day, with the Pavilion as the backdrop. Higher tiers suit spectators who enjoy reading the whole field; lower seating brings the boundary action closer.
For a long Test day, start your seat search with a rear covered row. Compare the view at that height before choosing, so you get both the perspective you enjoy and the cover you want.
