Cooper Associates County Ground: accessibility

Plan the County Ground, Taunton visit with Somerset’s accessibility team. The Cooper Associates County Ground has purpose-built accessible viewing at Gimblett’s Hill, lifts within its buildings and Changing Places in Somerset Stand Block One. Call 01823 425301 with your match, viewing and companion needs before selecting an ordinary row.

Booking accessible tickets

Arrange the accessible place and any companion ticket together with the club. Somerset’s ticket information says the disabled supporter pays the normal ticket or membership price and an essential companion is admitted free while accompanying them. Explain your wheelchair or mobility equipment, transfer needs and whether steps, walking distance or crowding are difficult. Ask what evidence and companion conditions apply to the selected fixture; the public guide does not provide one universal booking rule for every match.

For 2027, Somerset’s membership brochure makes Gimblett’s Hill accessible-only for Blast and One-Day Cup fixtures. Ask which part will be allocated to your booking and how you reach it. A standard allocated Blast seat and an accessible viewing place are different choices. If booking a premium room, name the room and ask about the outdoor viewing position as well as the lift.

Getting to the ground

Somerset gives a ten-minute walk from Taunton station via Station Road and Priory Bridge Road. National Rail’s station information describes step-free facilities, but check live lift notices and arrange Passenger Assist if you need it. Decide whether the final walking distance works for your group before relying on rail alone.

There is no public ground parking at home fixtures. Somerset offers a limited advance-booked accessible parking route for eligible members; contact staff about the actual match and any drop-off requirement. Do not treat a Blue Badge as a reserved space. Ask which entrance to use, the distance to your viewing place and whether vehicle movement is restricted around play.

Gateway and Silk Mills park-and-ride connect into town, with a further ground journey. The council lists Monday-to-Saturday service, so confirm the timetable and vehicle accessibility before choosing it. Sunday and evening returns need a separate plan. Share your expected arrival time with Somerset if you need assistance at the gate.

Inside the ground

Gimblett’s Hill has been adapted with accessible aisles, wheelchair space and charging points for mobility equipment, with ramp access from the Marcus Trescothick Pavilion end. Ask the club for the route to your allocated place. Its 2027 accessible-only short-format arrangements take precedence over an older general-seating description.

Changing Places is in Block One of the Somerset Stand. Tell staff if this facility is essential to your visit and ask about access, opening arrangements and any equipment you need to bring. Ordinary toilets are provided in the main pavilions and stands; request the nearest suitable accessible toilet before settling into your place.

The club provides lifts to additional floors within buildings. Confirm the lift route for the precise room or elevated area on your booking rather than assuming it describes every outdoor row. Hearing loops are listed for meetings and events in the County Room and Long Room; ask about your particular matchday use. Free in-ground radios for visually impaired visitors can be collected from Marcus Trescothick Pavilion reception.

Assistance dogs and support

Trained assistance dogs are permitted under control. Discuss the space and practical arrangements with Somerset when booking. The pet-dog county allowance is separate: ordinary dogs are limited to public stands on Championship and One-Day Cup days and do not have the same building access.

Tell a steward if you need help or directions on the day. For sensory needs or a quieter arrival, describe what would help directly to the accessibility team; a dedicated quiet-room booking is not confirmed here. Ask about emergency assistance before the match so staff know the support your group requires.
