Which stand to choose for this match

Start with the kind of day your group wants. North East Lower: alcohol-free Block R. For atmosphere, compare Western Terrace Fanzone: Blocks A and B, 18+. Roof cover and the direction of the seats both matter: a covered row can still catch low sunlight. Check the actual tier, block and row before buying, especially if shade is important for children or a full day outside.

East Stand

This is the eastern side-on perspective, useful for following the width of the field and the batter’s movement across the crease. Outdoor East Stand seating is open to the weather. It gets a mix of sun and shade in the morning and catches the sun after lunch. Members who enjoy a traditional county day will appreciate the East Stand’s side-on view and eligible Long Room access.

Howard Stand

At the Football Ground End, the wicket stretches away towards Kirkstall Lane. The upper tiers are covered; front rows can catch more weather and light. It gets a mix of sun and shade in the morning, and the covered seats are in the shade after lunch. Howard is a strong choice for spectators who like following the bowling and want padded seating.

North East Stand

The lower tier brings you closer to the boundary. Both the lower and upper tiers are uncovered. It gets a mix of sun and shade in the morning and catches the sun after lunch. Families who want alcohol-free seating will find Block R the clearest fit.

Pavilion

The Pavilion sits towards the northwestern corner, giving an angled view down the wicket. The balcony is open, while the Holmes, Denton and Emmett suites provide indoor space according to your entitlement. It gets a mix of sun and shade in the morning and catches the sun after lunch. The Pavilion suits county regulars who want a membership-based home for the season, friends using an eligible guest route and groups choosing a hosted cricket day.

Trueman Enclosure

The wicket runs away from you towards the Howard Stand at the Football Ground End. Trueman has covered and uncovered seating sold as separate international categories. It gets a mix of sun and shade in the morning and catches the sun after lunch. Trueman suits the cricket watcher who enjoys studying a spell, comparing bowlers and following changes of length.

Western Terrace

From the west side you watch across the wicket towards the East Stand, with the two bowling ends to either side. There is no roof over the Western Terrace seating, including the Fanzone and the Popular and 1863 Enclosures. It gets the morning sun and a mix of sun and shade after lunch. The 18+ Fanzone suits adult friends who enjoy singing and fancy dress; Popular and 1863 suit groups who prefer the terrace without costumes.

Day by day: what to expect

Day 1 is for the opening spell and the start of the contest. With the occasion of an Ashes morning comes a busy arrival period: give your journey some breathing room and find your seat before play. Arrange a meeting point outside if your group arrives separately; a ticket gate is an awkward place to organise everyone’s plans.

Days 2 and 3 let you follow the developing match. Pack permitted food, a refillable bottle, sun protection and a waterproof. Use lunch and tea for a walk, and return to your row between overs so you do not interrupt someone following the ball.

Day 4 can bring a deciding session. Trent Bridge publishes a cheaper day-four tariff; other grounds differ. Compare the daily table, and keep plans flexible because the match can finish early.

If rain interrupts play, stay with the ground’s announcements. A reduced day may continue after the originally expected interval or close, so avoid treating the planned timetable as a fixed departure time. Refund eligibility depends on the number of overs, the day and the ticket terms; some final-day conditions differ from the earlier days. Hotel and train costs are separate from a match-ticket refund. Read the rain and refund comparison before paying, and retain the confirmation for the correct claim route.

Getting there on a sell-out day

Plan the journey to your gate, including the final walk and the crowd after play. Check transport services and save your digital ticket before leaving home.

Arrive in Leeds city centre by national rail, then take a Harrogate-line train to Burley Park or Headingley. Burley Park is the closer station for the St Michael’s Lane side; Yorkshire’s access guide gives about five minutes to that entrance. Headingley station leads towards Kirkstall Lane, about fifteen minutes on foot with a gentle uphill section. West Yorkshire Metro gives a broader ten-to-fifteen-minute stadium walk for the two stations. Allow time for your gate and the queue.

Use National Rail’s Leeds information for the city-centre interchange, then check the return train as well as the outward one. Burley Park has step-free routes but ramps can be long or steep; Headingley has step-free access to its platforms. Both local stations are unstaffed. If you need assistance, arrange it with the operator before travelling and use the accessibility guide to plan the final approach.

If you need step-free travel, an accessible seat, companion admission or a drop-off arrangement, settle those details with the ground before buying the rest of the trip. The nearest station and the most suitable accessible route are not always the same choice. Read the ground’s accessibility guide for the published contacts and routes.

Getting home

The 2026 Pakistan Test guide gives an 18:00 finish. Play can finish early or run late. Take a train from Burley Park or Headingley towards Leeds, where you can connect for York, London and other mainline routes. Taxi ranks are on Kirkstall Lane and North Lane outside Sainsbury’s Local. Drop-off is on Kirkstall Lane only, not St Michael’s Lane, and busy periods can bring road closures. Check your last train in the National Rail journey planner and allow time to leave the ground.

Where to stay and when to book

Buy the match ticket before committing to a room. Compare cancellation terms, especially for later days. A nearby hotel helps with early arrival; a central base may suit your evening plans. Check the route back after play.

For the shortest cricket commute, start with the on-site Headingley Stadium Hotel, linked by Yorkshire as Headingley Lodge. It has 36 bedrooms overlooking the cricket field. Ask about match admission and room access before buying: a hotel room and a stand ticket are separate booking decisions. The hotel warns that match-day parking can move to another stadium car park and that arriving luggage is searched.
