What the day is like

Finals Day is a whole-day county-cricket occasion. The first semi-final gives two sets of supporters their chance to reach the evening match, followed by a second semi-final and the title decider. The ticket is for the day’s programme, so you can enjoy the other counties even if your own team loses early. Edgbaston confirms the four-team, three-match format for 2027.

The difference from a normal Blast evening is the amount of time you spend in the ground. Think about meals, phone battery, water and a warmer layer for the final as well as the first match. Our preference is to choose a seat for comfort across the full programme, rather than making the morning view the only consideration. Breaks between matches also provide a useful chance to stretch your legs and refill a bottle.

The Hollies is the obvious choice if singing, costumes and a lively group atmosphere are the main attraction. Edgbaston describes it as its party stand, most suitable for adults. A group bringing younger children should compare it with an alcohol-free area or another stand before paying. Fancy dress is part of the occasion, but the atmosphere varies considerably between blocks.

2026 Finals Day spectator guide

Timetable and the evening finish

The 2027 ticket office confirms the first match at 11:00. Later 2027 match times and gate opening are TBC. As a clearly labelled guide, the 2026 programme opened the gates at 09:00, scheduled semi-finals for 11:00 and 14:30, and put the final at 18:45. Those timings come from the 2026 Finals Day spectator guide.

Allow space around each scheduled match. Interruptions, presentations and the time needed to leave a large crowd can affect when you reach a station. If you want to stay for the trophy presentation, work backwards from your last suitable train and include the walk or bus journey. Choosing a return immediately after the expected last ball gives you little flexibility if play runs late.

For a first visit, arriving before the first match is less stressful than trying to find a gate and a block while play is already under way. Agree a meeting point with friends who are travelling separately. The ticket buyer should arrange app sharing beforehand, so the whole group does not have to remain together outside the entrance.

Tickets, prices and official resale

The 2027 Finals Day is confirmed for 17 July. Tickets reached general sale on 14 October 2026; check the official seller for current seat availability.

Ticket status checked: 19 October 2026

Official final ticket information

The 2027 sales sequence has already moved beyond the ballot. Edgbaston opened its free ballot on 2 September 2026, closed it on 29 September, and announced general sale on 14 October. The general-sale announcement includes Finals Day. Go directly to the 2027 event ticket page for the seats currently offered, rather than joining an expired ballot.

Published 2027 unit prices include adult seats at £77.50 in Dennis Amiss bronze or alcohol-free seating and Stanley Barnes Upper; £92.50 in Stanley Barnes and the West stands; and £112.50 in the Eric Hollies and Press Box stands. Selected premium positions are £152.50 for adults in 2027. Under-16 seats in eligible areas are shown at £33.50 for 2027. Compare the basket total and any fee breakdown before completing payment.

The 2027 ticket page allows a maximum of six tickets per booking and says one adult can accompany up to three under-16s. Accessible positions can be selected online, with ticket-office help if needed. Read the category carefully: an alcohol-free block, a restricted view and a premium lounge are different purchases even when their positions look close on the map.

If the area you want sells out, use the Edgbaston Ticket Exchange linked in the official ticket terms. It is the venue’s fan-to-fan resale route. Returned seats depend on other supporters offering them, so availability can change. Buying a screenshot from a stranger leaves you without the same official transfer route. A ticket shared through the app is different from permission to resell outside the club’s terms.

Your ticket on the day

Open your tickets in the free Edgbaston app using the same login as your booking. The lead booker can transfer tickets within the app, and the ticket office is in the Edgbaston Superstore. Contact the ticket team before travelling if your phone or ticket is unusable, or if you need to confirm concession ID requirements.

Children and age rules

Edgbaston’s safeguarding policy requires under-14s to attend with an adult aged 18 or over. The Hundred has a separate under-16 accompaniment rule, so check the conditions for your event. Ask the seller about hospitality age limits and the ID needed at bars. Taking the family

Buy tickets from the club’s official ticket office or the resale platform named by that seller. Use the official resale route and read Action Fraud’s ticket fraud advice.

Paying at the ground

Edgbaston is cashless; bring a payment card or e-wallet. Check with the club if you need a cash machine.

Getting there and getting home

Start with the Edgbaston travel guide for the main rail, walking and bus options. Birmingham New Street is a useful city-centre arrival point, but the final leg still needs planning. Edgbaston encourages public transport, walking and cycling on major match days. Any event shuttle or parking arrangements for 2027 should be taken from the new spectator guide when it appears.

The 2026 guide placed standard parking away from the stadium and provided a separate limited accessible-parking arrangement. check rather than assume those car parks or entrances will be identical in 2027. If you need a parking space, reserve through the operator linked by the club; a normal street-parking plan may be awkward when thousands of people arrive together.

Our advice for a long-distance visitor is to compare the cost of staying overnight with the practical limits of the last train. Include the journey from the ground, a queue for transport and the possibility of a delayed final. A pre-booked local taxi needs a meeting point that the driver can reach after the crowd leaves. Keep the accommodation address available offline.

Getting home

The 2026 Blast double-header guide gives a 21:30 finish. Play can finish early or run late. Return to Birmingham New Street for London, northbound and south-west connections. Network Rail places Birmingham New Street’s taxi rank on the Station Street/Dudley Street side. Agree a licensed-car collection point before travelling, particularly when event traffic restrictions apply. Check your last train in the National Rail journey planner and allow time to leave the ground.

Where to sit for three matches

Use the Edgbaston stand cards and sun-and-shade plan before selecting a seat. A side-on view helps you follow the field and running between wickets; a position nearer the bowler’s arm suits watching line and length. Cover depends on the stand, tier and row, and a roof does not mean every seat beneath its outline stays dry.

Compare the Eric Hollies Stand with the Dennis Amiss Stand if your main decision is atmosphere versus an alcohol-free area. The 2027 event page specifically identifies Dennis Amiss blocks 1–3 as alcohol-free. For a different angle, read the RES Wyatt Stand guide.

The selected stand also affects your breaks: think about stairs, getting back to a row and the needs of anyone with limited mobility. Read Edgbaston accessibility information before buying if a wheelchair position, step-free route or companion ticket is important. Ask the club about the exact block rather than relying on a general stadium description.

Fancy dress, bags, food and alcohol

Edgbaston’s published food-and-drink rules specifically prohibit outside alcohol at Finals Day, together with cans and glass bottles. Food and non-alcoholic drink are allowed subject to the restrictions. The club asks visitors to avoid bags where possible and says bags are searched. Buggies are not permitted at Finals Day, so families should plan that part of the journey before arriving.

Costumes fit the party-stand character, but check rather than assume a costume permits an otherwise prohibited prop. Whistles, horns, instruments, fireworks and flares are among the banned items. Pack around your seat and travel arrangements: comfortable shoes and a compact layer are more useful than an elaborate outfit that becomes difficult to manage for the whole day.

Hospitality has a separate dress policy. The club’s hospitality dress guidance says fancy dress is not permitted in hospitality suites and directs guests to their package-specific matchday guide. If some of your group have lounge or hospitality tickets, agree clothing suitable for that area rather than following the Hollies example.

Where to stay and when to book

Birmingham city-centre accommodation can make the evening finish easier to manage, especially if the alternative is leaving the final to catch a train. Compare the route from the ground as well as the room price: a convenient arrival station in the morning may also be useful when leaving the following day. Choose cancellation terms that suit your plans and read check-in times.

The date and venue are confirmed for 2027, so you can compare stays now if you already intend to attend. Our preference is to secure the match ticket before committing to a non-refundable room. If travelling with friends, decide whether everyone will stay together and whether you want breakfast or luggage storage the next morning. Keep enough time to collect bags before a train.

The last five men’s Blast finals

The ECB competition archive records the recent champions, with match reports providing the scores. On 16 July 2022, Hampshire Hawks made 152/8 and beat Lancashire Lightning’s 151/8 by one run. On 15 July 2023, Somerset defended 145 all out against Essex, dismissed for 131, to win by 14 runs. See the ECB 2022 report and Essex’s 2023 report.

Gloucestershire won on 14 September 2024, chasing Somerset’s 124 with 129/2 for an eight-wicket victory; the ECB highlights record their first title. Somerset then beat Hampshire by six wickets on 13 September 2025, reaching 195/4 after Hampshire’s 194/6, as described in Somerset’s final report.

On 18 July 2026 Northamptonshire Steelbacks beat Hampshire Hawks by 14 runs: 169 all out against 155 all out. Northamptonshire’s report describes the reversal from a strong batting position to a tight defence. The run of results is a useful reminder to stay for the cricket itself: a lower first-innings total can still produce a memorable final.
