South Stand, the 1st Central County Ground: view, shade and what to expect
The South Stand rises above the Media Centre at the Sea End of the 1st Central County Ground, Hove. Sussex describes its elevated, behind-the-bowler view as one of the ground’s standout choices, with limited seating.

The view
Above the Media Centre
The elevated southern position looks along the bowling line towards the Cromwell Road End. Watch a bowler build a spell and see the field around the batter from behind the action.
Roof, height and the row
Morning and afternoon bring mixed sun and shade. A rear position can provide shelter, but the precise wicket view depends on the row and any railings or structural obstructions.
Arranging access
The club’s general access information confirms a ramp into neighbouring Cow Corner beside the South Stand/Media Centre. It does not establish a step-free route to every South Stand row. Ask Sussex how to reach your particular elevated place and arrange designated wheelchair viewing if needed.

Neighbouring seating
Compare Sharks Stand and Spen Cama Pavilion. Temporary Cromwell Road/east-side seats vary by event. For the South Stand at Hove, the north-end Family Area needs an under-18 in the group; moderate alcohol is allowed in seats, not on the walkway. It is not alcohol-free.

Food, drink and toilets
Use the food and drink facilities open for your match, and identify the nearest toilet before taking your seat above the Media Centre. Sussex’s published ground information places toilets at the rear of the South Stand. Cow Corner and other catered rooms have their own ticket conditions: a nearby stand seat does not include the meal, bar package or hospitality deck.
Outside alcohol is prohibited at Blast, One-Day Cup and internationals. Check Hove’s packing rules for containers. Return between overs.
Who it suits
South suits visitors who like watching bowling from an elevated end-on angle and comparing the field from above the boundary. Practical tip: ask for the actual block and row before booking, so the viewing angle is the one you want.
Tickets
Limited South Stand places
Sussex calls the seats limited and sought after, so check the official ticket account early for your chosen fixture. Individual 2027 stand prices and opening dates are TBC. Confirm that your purchase names South Stand, rather than assuming general admission includes the elevated section. Ask the ticket team about any remaining places and the route before buying.
Cow Corner and premium rooms
Cow Corner, the executive suite and outside hospitality deck are neighbouring premium facilities, with separately booked admission. The published 50-Over Package uses one of Sussex’s premium hospitality areas and unallocated seating; the offer does not identify a single fixed room. Check the location when booking rather than treating it as a South Stand upgrade.
