Gallagher Stand, Leicester: view, shade and what to expect
Gallagher Stand sits on the south-western part of the Bennett End at the Uptonsteel Grace Road ground. The open seating offers an angled view up the wicket towards the Pavilion, with the Mike Turner Cricket Centre behind this end. It is a useful alternative to the long western bank when you want more of the bowling line without booking a hospitality room.

The club’s Gallagher partnership announcement places this stand at the Bennett End. The layout map puts it in front of the indoor cricket school, now the Mike Turner Cricket Centre, with the Pavilion at the opposite end. The wicket runs approximately north-north-east to south-south-west, so Gallagher gives an angled end-on perspective rather than the square-on view from Uptonsteel. Your exact seat determines how closely the stumps line up.
Sun and shelter
The Gallagher rows are open and can receive direct sunshine both before and after lunch. Facing towards the north-east changes where glare falls, but the sun being to one side or behind you is not the same as shade. Take sun protection and a waterproof layer. Buildings near the boundary cast changing shadows; no exact shadow timetable or covered row should be assumed from the schematic. Published row numbers and detailed restrictions are TBC.
Neighbouring seating
Uptonsteel Stand continues around the western side. The Family Stand is beyond the marquee towards the south-east, on the other part of the Bennett End. The marquee between them has its own hospitality or member arrangements; it is not a covered extension of Gallagher seating. Pavilion Stand offers a public comparison from the opposite end of the ground.

Food, drink and toilets
The Mike Turner Cricket Centre is the main building to recognise behind the Gallagher side. Published club information identifies toilets, accessible facilities and baby changing at this end, with a lift serving the Centre’s upper floor. A lift inside the building does not establish step-free access to every outdoor row or access to a premium room.
Use the latest match guide for open bars and food outlets. Gallagher visitors should follow the Curzon Road approach in the club’s directions and check any match-specific gate change. Bring a cashless payment method. When choosing a place with a child or someone who needs regular breaks, identify the permitted route to toilets before the innings starts.
Who it suits
Gallagher works well for people who like to follow the contest between bowler and batter while keeping an open-ground atmosphere. It is not a dependable shelter choice. If a family-specific alcohol restriction matters more than the viewing angle, compare the named Family Stand section and its current rules. Choose the seat and ticket category together rather than relying on the sponsor name.
Tickets
Ordinary domestic admission uses available unallocated seating under the club’s published policy. The indoor Centre, executive facilities and marquee may require different entitlements. Individual 2027 ticket prices and public sale dates remain TBC.
