The Pro Steel Grandstand, also called the Grandstand on the official map and formerly the Foster’s Grandstand, is the elevated southeastern side-on stand at Sophia Gardens Cardiff. It sits between Riverside and Croeso, covering Blocks 21–27. The club’s seating FAQs allow alcohol in this area; choose Jellyfish if you want an alcohol-free family setting.

The view

The broad side-on angle helps you follow the batter’s movement, the field settings and shots across the square. Higher rows give a wider overview; seats towards the front put the boundary action closer. Compare the block against the pitch before buying an allocated international ticket, rather than choosing solely by the stand name.

Atmosphere and families

The club’s domestic FAQs describe the Grandstand as a potentially lively international area and say alcohol is permitted here. They identify this and Jellyfish as Category C options for under-17 international pricing in the described layout. Check your own event’s category map and junior tariff: 2027 individual prices are TBC.

Cover and access

The ordinary Grandstand seats are open to the weather. Morning brings a mix of sun and shade, while the stand catches sunshine after lunch. Take a hat, sun cream and a waterproof for a long day. Ask the ticket team about steps to the exact row and arrange designated accessible viewing separately.

Choosing the format

A county afternoon and an international fill the stand differently. Glamorgan public domestic seats are unreserved, while international tickets specify a block, row and seat.

Who it suits

The Grandstand suits visitors who want an elevated side-on view and enjoy the busier feel of an international crowd. Afternoon sunshine makes it a good choice for those who like being outdoors through the second half of play. Practical tip: compare a higher row for the field view and pack for an exposed seat.
