Thatchers Pavilion, Cardiff: view, shade and what to expect
The Thatchers Pavilion, previously the Discover Leeks Pavilion, is the Pavilion building on the northwestern side of Sophia Gardens Cardiff, between the Jellyfish Family Stand and the corner towards the Members’ Stand. The official map places Blocks 1–7 here, alongside The View, the Pyramid Hygiene Suite and the Swansea Building Society Lounge. Public stand seating and admission to those rooms are separate bookings.

The view
The side-on angle lets you follow the batter’s movement and the field spread across the square. Lower rows bring boundary fielders closer; moving higher gives a broader overview.
Cover and access
Pavilion cover varies by seat and viewing area. Its seats get morning sunshine and a mix of sun and shade after lunch. Ask the club about your exact seat, shelter and steps. Arrange wheelchair or companion requirements with the ticket team before selecting a standard seat.
Swansea Building Society Lounge
The club’s 2027 Premium Championship membership includes this lounge for Championship and One-Day Cup cricket. It has a guest-ticket route with a paid lounge upgrade. Ordinary Full Membership includes the Lewis Lounge instead; check rather than assume the two rooms have the same entitlement. Match-specific hosted dining is sold through official hospitality.
Pyramid Hygiene Suite
The official stadium map places this suite within the Pavilion. Public Blocks 1–7 tickets do not include suite access.
The View
The View is another named Pavilion space. The official hospitality material also describes private executive boxes with balcony viewing. Check the package’s group arrangements, seats and entrance.

Food, drink and toilets
Pavilion room packages describe their own catering; ordinary public spectators use the matchday concessions. Food outlets and opening arrangements vary with crowd size and event.
Accessible toilets are provided on Pavilion levels, and RADAR keys are available through stewards or reception. The ground’s wider facilities include a Changing Places room at Castell Howell Block 35.
Who it suits
The Pavilion suits visitors who enjoy a side-on view and groups choosing a named room for their day. County regulars can compare Premium Championship lounge access with ordinary membership before committing. Practical tip: give the ticket team the room name as well as the stand when asking about an entrance or accessible route.
