Basil D’Oliveira Stand, Worcester: view, shade and what to expect
Basil D’Oliveira Stand follows New Road’s southern side, between the Diglis section and Family Stand side. It is open outdoor viewing with a mix of sun and shade through the day. Ordinary available seats use public general admission, while the nearby WODR café and hospitality offers have their own arrangements.

The view
Open-air rows
Basil D’Oliveira offers open southern seating without a roof. Higher rows show more of the field; lower seats bring the boundary closer. Exact restricted places and railings are TBC—check the offered row and bring weather protection.
Light through the day
Basil D’Oliveira receives mixed sun and shade in both morning and afternoon, depending on row and angle. It has no rain cover. Front places catch more sun; bring a hat. The wicket’s north-east to south-west orientation gives an angled end view.
WODR and the family side
The current club guide places WODR Bar & Café beside the Family Stand, with covered ground-level seating and an upper deck. County visitors can use the café, while the Blast BBQ hospitality package is separately booked. Choose the public facility or named package you actually want; neither turns the whole Basil D’Oliveira Stand into covered seating.
Neighbouring seating
Diglis continues along the eastern curve, while the Family Stand side lies to the south-west with WODR nearby. The Ladies Pavilion’s tea-and-cake tradition is another county-day option. Seasonal seating and the sections opened follow the actual match plan; ask about the fixture layout rather than assuming every mapped bank is open.

Food, drink and toilets
New Road’s county guide names WODR, the Purple Granite Bar in Scoreboard Plaza and the Severn Suite bar among refreshment options. Opening and room admission depend on the fixture. The ground is cashless. Use an interval to locate your nearest toilet and return between overs, keeping designated accessible approaches clear.
The club’s access page offers bookable pitch-level viewing and asks visitors to arrange it by phone. Limited paid Blue Badge parking must also be pre-booked; the county guide locates accessible parking behind this stand. Confirm the entrance and route for your seat. Changing Places arrangements and any companion eligibility should be discussed before buying.
Who it suits
Basil D’Oliveira suits county spectators who like an open-air place and an angled southern view, with family-side refreshments nearby. It is a useful comparison with the buildings on the New Road side when choosing a full day’s watching. Practical tip: pack a hat and waterproof layer because mixed sunlight does not provide rain cover.
Tickets
Worcestershire sells county tickets online and through Reception. The published 2026 advance guide was £16 for adult Championship admission with juniors free, £10/£1 for One-Day Cup, and Blast early-bird offers from £15/£5. A September Championship gate example was £19 for adults. Individual 2027 stand tariffs are TBC. Prices depend on the seat category shown when you book.
General admission excludes member and hospitality areas. Choose the actual public match category. Arrange designated accessible viewing and any companion entitlement with Worcestershire before selecting an ordinary row.
