Ladies Pavilion, Worcester: view, shade and what to expect

The Ladies Pavilion is New Road’s south-western tea-and-cake landmark, welcoming members and visitors on the first three Championship days and every One-Day Cup fixture. It opened in April 1956 and remains volunteer-run. Come for the refreshment tradition and nearby cricket view, with Graeme Hick Pavilion towards the west and the Family Stand side nearby.

The view

Tea and cakes

The Ladies Pavilion opened on 26 April 1956. Worcestershire’s seventieth-birthday account explains that it was originally established when women could not enter the old Pavilion, now Graeme Hick Pavilion. Today visitors and members are welcomed, with volunteers serving homemade cakes, tray bakes and scones. That history makes it a distinctive place to pause during county cricket rather than a premium room requiring a separate seat tariff.

Outdoor viewing

Its south-western position gives morning sun and a mix of light and shade later in the day. Indoor shelter and the outdoor viewing edge are different places; exact roof rows and any railing restrictions are TBC. Ask the club about the seat and step-free route if you intend to stay here for a full session. The current map places it near Chestnut Marquee, with the Family Stand and WODR side farther around the boundary.

Neighbouring seating

Graeme Hick Pavilion’s member and eligible guest seating is towards the west. The Family Stand and Basil D’Oliveira side provide other viewing options nearby. Chestnut Marquee is a separately booked pitchside hospitality product; its menu, table and admission are not part of an ordinary visit for Pavilion tea.

Food, drink and toilets

The club’s current account lists the Ladies Pavilion as open for the first three Championship days and every One-Day Cup fixture. The volunteer-made cakes, scones and tray bakes are the attraction; exact daily menus and prices are TBC. New Road is cashless, so bring the payment method you expect to use.

Accessible toilets are signposted around the ground, and the current map identifies Changing Places and a quiet/multi-faith space. Arrange any essential facility or route with Worcestershire before arrival. Leave glass and sharp objects at home; food and soft drinks in a small bag are allowed for the stated county formats. Outside alcohol uses format-specific limits.

Who it suits

The Ladies Pavilion is a lovely county-day stop for visitors who enjoy tradition, a tea break and time to explore the ground between sessions. It is especially useful when making a first visit without committing to a premium dining package. Practical tip: plan your cake visit around the stated opening days and your next viewing position.

Tickets

Ordinary general admission allows available public seating except designated member and hospitality areas. The club explicitly welcomes visitors to the Ladies Pavilion on its stated county days. As a dated 2026 guide, Championship advance admission was £16 for adults and free for juniors; One-Day Cup was £10 and £1. Individual 2027 match tariffs are TBC. Prices depend on the seat category shown when you book.
