Visit Worcestershire New Road is Worcestershire’s city-centre home beside the River Severn, traditionally known simply as New Road. The cathedral view, Pavilion rooms and volunteer-run tea-and-cake tradition make it a county day worth taking slowly. Choose your match, viewing and station together, and check the club’s latest access notice when the river is high. Last checked: October 2026.

At a glance: the Visit Worcestershire New Road ground
New Road puts the cricket beside the River Severn, with Worcester Cathedral forming the backdrop to the day. The ground's setting is part of its appeal: you can settle into the action, then use an interval to explore another viewing position or find something to eat. Its current official name is Visit Worcestershire New Road, while New Road remains the familiar name you will hear around the ground.
The buildings tell different parts of the club's story. The Graeme Hick Pavilion houses the Tom Graveney Lounge and the members' facilities; the Ladies Pavilion is another tradition worth making time for. Opened in April 1956, it still serves homemade cakes, tray bakes and scones, with volunteers welcoming members and visitors during the first three days of Championship matches and at One-Day Cup fixtures. For a long day's cricket, that makes tea an enjoyable part of the visit in its own right.
Food and viewing options stretch beyond the pavilions. WODR Bar & Café has covered seating at ground level and an upper deck beside the Family Stand. Championship visitors can use the café, while its Blast hospitality package offers a separate BBQ experience. The New Road end also has the Severn Suite bar, and the Scoreboard Plaza brings together the Purple Granite Bar and the club shop.
The river also shapes the practical side of a visit. The club reported six floods over winter before its April 2026 improvements, including a more resilient scoreboard and refreshed facilities.

New Road, April 2022
A general admission ticket lets you choose a seat around the ground, excluding the designated members' and hospitality areas. The Graeme Hick Pavilion has a clear guest route for Championship and One-Day Cup cricket: Club and Premium members can sign in two guests per match day, provided each guest has a valid ground admission ticket. The published guest arrangement does not extend to Blast matches. A Blast Season Pass includes access to the Pavilion's member area for its six home group matches.
The ground map distinguishes the outdoor stands from its viewing buildings and hospitality rooms. New Road Stand and The View Stand lead around to Brookes, Mills, Cathedral and Diglis stands, followed by the Basil D'Oliveira Stand and the Student Energy Group Family Stand. The Graeme Hick and Ladies pavilions are separate buildings. For a meal with your cricket, the club sells packages in the BEARD Terrace, Chestnut Marquee, WODR Bar & Café and Legends Box; choose the product shown on your booking rather than assuming a general ticket includes those rooms.
The wicket runs approximately north-east to south-west. Eastern and northern outdoor sections catch more direct afternoon sun; western covered viewing places put more of the sun behind them. Basil D’Oliveira and the Family Stand receive a mix through the later day. A room’s roof and an outdoor seat’s shelter are different questions, so ask for the actual covered row if protection is essential.
The Family Stand is next to WODR Bar & Café, which offers covered seating at ground level and an upper deck. The current club material does not establish that the entire Family Stand is alcohol-free. Choose the family ticket category and check its match policy rather than assuming family seating means no alcohol. General admission allows ordinary available seats except designated member and hospitality areas.

The club’s accessible drop-off is beside Severn Bridge; follow the club’s access instructions. Agree the collection point with a licensed driver before travelling. Check whether your preferred taxi app serves the area.
Worcester Foregate Street is the closest station: the club puts it approximately half a mile from New Road. Follow the route towards the river, cross the Severn and use the pedestrian crossings to reach the ground. The club's separate walking guide puts the city-centre walk at around ten minutes. Worcester Shrub Hill is another rail option, but its access arrangements need more planning: National Rail gives it Category B3 step-free access and no lifts, whereas Foregate Street has lifts and step-free access to all platforms. Choose the station that works for your service and access needs, and check your return before an evening match.
Local buses bring you to Crowngate bus station beneath the shopping centre. From there, the club directs visitors through the pedestrian crossings and across the Severn bridge, with the cricket ground on the left. Book match-day parking before driving: the ground has limited spaces. The club lists Tybridge Street, Newport Street and Friary Walk as approximately six minutes away on foot, and Copenhagen Street and Cattle Market as approximately eight minutes. When the river is high, check the club's venue announcement and the council's access notices first. Riverside car parks can close, and flooding has previously forced early-season cricket to move to Kidderminster.
The current Championship visitor guide releases parking booking forty-eight hours ahead for members and twenty-four hours ahead for non-members through the club account. Vehicles are held for fifteen minutes after play while pedestrians leave. Blue Badge spaces have their own limited paid pre-booking route; do not arrive expecting a bay without a reservation.
First Bus changed Worcester’s network in August 2026. Use the current 44/X44 timetable for Great Malvern rather than old route-43 advice, and check the final service for your date. A regular match-day park-and-ride service is TBC; do not treat a seasonal Christmas service as an ordinary cricket route.

Worcestershire’s 2027 Club Membership is £240 before 1 February 2027 and covers Championship and One-Day Cup group cricket with Graeme Hick Pavilion access. For a long county day, the published 2026 advance tariff was £16 for Championship adults, with juniors free. One-Day Cup advance tickets were £10 for adults and £1 for juniors, while the Blast's early-bird offer started at £15 for adults and £5 for juniors. A September 2026 Championship booking listed £19 for adults on the day. Use those as dated guides while 2027 individual prices are TBC. Buying ahead also gives you time to choose the right ticket and check the fixture's venue before setting off.
Rapids Blast is the shorter-format choice, with a published 2026 early-bird adult offer from £15 and junior offer from £5. Select the Family Stand category deliberately. Individual 2027 Blast prices are TBC; membership prices being frozen does not establish a match-price freeze.
Pick a membership around the cricket you want to watch. The 2027 Club Membership covers Championship and One-Day Cup group-stage cricket; Premium adds the home Blast group games. Before 1 February 2027, Club is £240 and Premium £275, rising to £285 and £355 respectively. A Blast season pass is £110 before that date or £130 afterwards. Members can sign two guests with valid admission tickets into the Graeme Hick Pavilion on Championship and One-Day Cup days. Junior Pear starts at £35 and includes all three formats. Check the club's junior age cutoff before purchasing.
Club includes two Championship or One-Day Cup guest vouchers, while Premium includes four. Members can separately sign in two guests with valid tickets to Graeme Hick Pavilion on Championship and One-Day Cup days. That route does not extend to Blast. Junior Pear is £35 before 1 February 2027 or £45 afterwards; confirm the age cutoff.
Dogs on a lead are allowed at Championship, One-Day Cup group matches and non-T20 tourist games, but not inside bars or restaurants. T20, internationals and One-Day Cup knockouts admit assistance dogs only. Flooding has previously moved early-season matches to Kidderminster; that is historical experience, not a published 2027 venue programme. Check the opponent, venue and match notice together before travelling.

A picnic suits a county day at New Road. The club permits food and soft drinks for Championship and One-Day Cup group games, and its Championship guide asks for a small bag that can be searched. Leave glass and sharp objects at home. Limited outside alcohol is allowed for those county formats, but none is allowed for T20, full internationals or One-Day Cup quarter-finals and semi-finals. Ask the club about wine before packing it: its current regulations give both 70cl and 75cl. Dogs may accompany you to Championship, One-Day Cup group games and non-T20 tourist matches on a lead; they cannot enter bars or restaurants unless they are assistance dogs.
The numbered ground regulations give a 70cl wine allowance, while their summary gives 75cl. The latest Championship guide says four cans and no wine bottles. Glass vessels are prohibited throughout; the clear current county-day advice is a small bag and up to four cans where outside alcohol is permitted.
Small cricket flags are admitted at the club’s discretion, but fixed metal or wooden poles are prohibited. Cool-box permission, numerical bag dimensions and specific fancy-dress rules are TBC. Under-fourteens must be accompanied by an adult. Use the packing comparison for New Road rather than copying another ground’s rules.
Bring a card and some cash, as Worcestershire’s payment policy needs confirmation. Ask the club about cash-machine provision before travelling.

Stay in Worcester city centre for the simplest combination of cricket and an evening out. The Worcester Whitehouse Hotel sits opposite Foregate Street station; Diglis House Hotel is on Severn Street beside the river. Both have confirmed Booking.com listings, so compare rooms for your own dates rather than rely on a headline nightly price. Great Malvern is an alternative if you want to extend the visit beyond Worcester: First Bus publishes the 44/X44 connection to the city. Check the exact return and allow for the onward walk to New Road. Hotel-to-ground timings are TBC.
Premier Inn Worcester City Centre is beside the ground; its own directions describe cricket as one minute away. Check hotel and match parking separately. Its card uses the hotel’s own website because a Booking.com listing was not confirmed.

Check Premier Inn Worcester City Centre →Worcester Cathedral gives the familiar view from New Road a second perspective: make time to visit the building on a free morning, with its own visitor information open alongside your match itinerary. The Commandery is the stronger choice if you want to follow the city’s Civil War story. The Museum of Royal Worcester adds a contrasting indoor visit focused on the city’s porcelain heritage. None needs to be treated as a hurried lunch-interval excursion; a Championship trip gives you room to choose one properly.
King Charles House on New Street is a named place for food and drink after play, with menus and reservations on its official website. The pub is also included in Visit Worcester’s account of the city’s history. Allow for leaving a busy New Road before agreeing a dinner time, especially if play runs beyond its scheduled close. For a rest day, pair the Cathedral with one museum and leave space for a riverside walk rather than booking every hour. Visit Worcester and the wider Visit Worcestershire tourism information provide current events and other local ideas, including alternatives if the weather rules out an outdoor afternoon.
Announced: England women v Bangladesh, IT20, 12 September 2027, 14:30. County fixtures and the 2027 outground allocation are TBC. The club expects the new county fixture release in November 2026; check Worcestershire’s matches for the actual dates, start times and venue before reserving travel.
